Arbor Terrace Exton is a 78,000-square-foot assisted living and memory care community in West Whiteland Township, Chester County, PA.

Arbor Terrace Exton Assisted Living PatioThe community’s architecture is rooted in the rich, historic architecture of Chester County, an area known for its farmhouses and horse breeding. Arbor Terrace Exton’s design was influenced by the architectural evolution of a farmhouse, with massing that represents additions being added over time to a beloved home. Iconic Pennsylvania farmhouse elements such as stone, shutters, and welcoming open porches remind of the extensive history of local architecture dating back to pre-colonial and colonial time periods. These elements can be seen reflected in the architecture of both the exterior and in the interior design. One unique element created to pay homage to local architectural history is a ruin that was designed as a backdrop for the dining room and courtyard, creating a buffer between the rear access drive and the courtyard.

Entering the community, the interior design of the lobby celebrates and pulls influence from local design elements to create a warm and inviting atmosphere: built-in niches, reclaimed wood mantels, rustic wood ceiling beams, cased archways, and a prominent barrel-vaulted lobby ceiling. Paired with a calming and contemporary color palette and biophilic design elements incorporated in the artwork and finishes creates a timeless aesthetic for residents and guests to enjoy.

An open floor plan programmed with a variety of amenities including a sports lounge designed to replicate a local hunting club, a wellness suite that includes fitness and beauty salon amenities, a theater and art studio designed with adjacencies that promote flexibility, and inter-generational features including a children’s nook and a technology library with books and computers are a few of the many options residents have for connection and engagement.

The community also provides personal care and memory care to seniors living within three interconnected “Bridges” neighborhoods that ease the transition from assisted living to more comprehensive memory care. The entire experience has been designed with future residents in mind–from the blueprints of the building down to the services and amenities residents will enjoy.
